Career Transition

The Career Transition Period is one of the most unique aspects of Job Corps as it generally lasts the longest and demonstrates how committed we are to the success of our students.  It begins during the last 60 days on center and continues through initial placement in full time employment or advanced training and education.  Following initial placement, your Career Transition Specialist will work to help you move toward a stable and productive life beyond the center.

The Career Transition Specialist continues to work with the graduate for 12 months following the initial placement to keep in touch and provides assistance to maintain full time productive employment.   This support includes help to find housing, health care, assists in finding transportation to and from work, and necessary social services in the area.

Job Corps also provides a transition allowance of up to $1200 to assist the graduate in getting what he or she needs to get on the road to a career with high wages and opportunity for growth.   Job Corps graduates find good jobs and have the support they need to stay in the workforce.
