Career Development Services System

The Career Development Services System is a comprehensive program which begins with the Outreach and Admissions, Career Preparation Period, Career Development Period, Career Transition period, then on to Career and Success!

We are staffed with 5 admissions counselors, 4 Career Advisors and secretarial support. The Outreach, Admissions department is primarily responsible for recruiting, screening and assigning potential students who are eligible to enter the Talking Leaves Center.

The Career Preparation Period is a 60 day program which focuses on the trainees skills in developing employability, personal responsibility, creating a personal career development plan, computer skills and earning the trainees respect and trust.

The Career Development Period consists of the trainees willingness to learn, to demonstrate technical/academic skills, interpersonal communication, social personal management skills, problem solving skills, independent skills, and Job search skills.

The Career Transition Period will focus on earning the respect and trust in regarding support services with the assistance of the trainees first job. Career Advisors will assist with face to face transitional needs, such as, housing, transportation, child care, and career counseling. The Career Advisors will work with the trainees for 12 months following the initial job placement in assisting subsequent placements or job upgrades with support services they need to stay employed and live independently.

The Career Development Services System program also has a great working relationship with the Armed Forces in referrals and placement. Assistance in furthering education with college programs.
