Center Life

A typical day at Talking Leaves Job Corps is full of activities to help our students prepare for the real world. Students get up early and spend the majority of their day receiving academic and hands-on career technical training.

After class, students study or hang out with friends before dinner in the cafeteria. After dinner, students may do chores in their dorms or spend their downtime studying. Most students are in bed by 10 PM in order to rest for the next day's tasks.

Recreation

Talking Leaves Job Corps boasts one of the best recreation programs in the nation. Students find our recreational activities to be a fun and exciting way to meet new friends, socialize, and just relax and unwind at the end of the day.

Eagles Executive Board

The Eagles Executive Board (also known as the Eagles Club) plays a vital role in maintaining a positive culture on our center through leadership development. Teaching by example, students on the Eagles Executive Board set the standard for others to follow. This organization provides students with opportunities for input on self-government and center policies.

Each member of the Eagles Executive Board serves as a committee chairman for committees representing various departments. Each committee's purpose is to provide suggestions to better our center’s operations and to serve as a liaison between the student body and center administrators.

The Eagles Executives Board provides students the opportunity and tools to learn and practice positive leadership skills. Student leaders are involved in activities such as parades, community and public relations, fund raisers, center dances, and other special events. They often serve as hosts for visitors to our center. They also serve as student representatives during Job Corps Legislative Day and Cherokee Nation Legislative Day at our state capital.

Safety

Job Corps is committed to offering all students a safe and secure environment. That's why we have a Zero Tolerance Policy for violence, alcohol, and drugs. Any student who breaks this policy will be dismissed immediately from Job Corps.
