You are representative of
Talking Leaves Job Corps whether you are on or off the center and should always
dress in an appropriate manner. Appearance is important and the way you dress is
often the first impression that is presented. As you prepare for the workplace
you are expected to dress in a manner that presents a positive attitude and
image. The following is the accepted dress code for the training day. The
duty day is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and includes the areas of academics,
vocation, administration, cafeteria, work sites (both on and off center),
recreation, leisure time, and travel.
Center ID cards are to be
displayed (worn) at all times.
Vocational uniforms must be worn while assigned
to a vocation or work site. The Vocation Supervisor (Delbert Stanley) and
vocation instructors have final judgement.
Dresses, skirts and shorts must be of an
appropriate length; no shorter than 3" from the center of the knee or above
the end of the fingertips. Clothing must fit properly. It should not be too
tight, too short, or too revealing.
Slacks, jeans, and pants must be clean and
neat. They must fit properly. Pajama or lounging pants are NOT
appropriate. SAGGING IS NOT PERMITTED.
Appropriate shoes for the
workplace must be worn; no house shoes or flip flops (shower shoes).
The following is NOT
PERMITTED during the training day in academics, vocation, administration,
cafeteria, or work sites (on or off center).
Tank tops, tube tops, crop
tops, or A-shirts. Tops must never rise above the waist or waist line
of your slacks, jeans, shorts, or skirt.
Any shirt, top, or sweater
that exposes cleavage or mid section of the body.
Any article of clothing
that advertises the name of beer, liquor, marijuana, drugs or has suggestive
or obscene pictures, profanity, gang slogans/emblems, or pornography printed
on it.
Nose rings, tongue rings,
eyebrow rings, or rings/studs in other areas of the body other than the ears
are not acceptable.
Staff members have the
right of judgement at times when attire is questionable. The Supervisor in each
department will make the final decision.
